Established
in 1997, comprised in the premises of the Sri
Ramakrishna Hospital, the Sri Ramakrishna Heart
Foundation & Research Centre, has created
a niche for itself in the arena of heart care
and is today recognized as the centre par exvellence
for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery. The stat-of-the-art
cardiac centre stands as a testimony to the
vision and foresight of our Founder, Late Shri.S.N.Rengaswamy
Naidu, and his four sons.
Sri Ramakrishna hospital has been keeping pace
with fast changing trends and today boasts of
the finest in heart care, available in this
part of the world. The Centre has fully-equipped,
experienced cardiologists and paramedical staff
competent to handle all kind of complexities.

Cardiac care has come a long way since the first
surgery was performed in India almost a century
ago. Those were the times when only the privileged
few could afford such a treatment. But it’s

OUT-PATIENT
CARE
The out-patient department, fully equipped
with top-of-the-line machinery and managed
by committed doctors, provides round-the-clock
diagnostic facilities. The department
is equipped with computerises ECG, Holter
Monitor, TMT (Tread Mill Test), MRI with
Spiral CT 128 slice for angiogram facility.
Sri Ramakrishna Heart Foundation is one
of the few centres in the country which
is equipped with modern echomachine with
the facility to perform Transesophagial
Echocardiogram even for neonates. |

PEDIATRIC
CARDIAC OUT-PATIENT CARE
Heart care service for all is our motto
and this includes heart-care for children
too. We offer free consultation and diagnosis
for needy children below 12 years. This
services can be availed on all Thursdays
between 12 noon and 3.00 p.m.
CARDIAC
ARRHYTHMIA CARE
For the first time in Coimbatore, Sri
Ramakrishna Hospital has set up an updated
stat-of-the=art electrophysiology laboratory
which helps in performing diagnostic and
therapeutic electrophysiology procedures
on cardiac arrhythmia patients.
Free arrhythmia diagnosis is conducted
on all Tuesday between 1pm to 5pm for
the poor and the needy.

a 14-bedded Coronary Care Unit
with a central monitoring facility
. Adjacent to the ICU is the Cardiac
Catheterisation Lab which provides

The Cardiac Ambulance equipped with
monitor, defibrillator and transport
ventilator functions as mobile hospital
on wheels. The ambulance has mobile
communication facilities too that
enable rapid transport of patients
to the ICU. Those who need this

THEATRE
Immaculate in design, the theatres have
walls and roofs made of plastic –
coated stainless steel and anti-electrostatic
flooring that ensure maximum purity and
dust-free environment. Laminar air-conditioning
ensures a gentle flow of microbe-free
air. Thus incidence of infection is greatly
reduced. |

CARE
FOR THE LITTLE SWEET HEARTS...
Children are God’s gift
to the world, the joy and hope
of parents and the future cornerstones
of our country. But not all children
are born healthy. Approximately
6-8 out of every 1000 children
in our country suffer from congenital
heart diseases, i.e. birth defects
in the heart; very few are lucky
enough to obtain corrective treatment.
Most of these defects go undetected
resulting in the loss of precious
little lives. Even when detected,
adequate treatment is not administered
many children due to high cost,
lack of insurance cover and ignorance
of the parents. Furthermore, very
few centres in our country are
equipped to treat these children. |

This
dismal state of affairs has prompted
Sri Ramakrishna Heart Foundation
to set up a Padiatric Cardiac Care
Unit to cater to the needs of children
in an efficient and cost-effective
manner, thereby bringing hope to
many lives. So far, the centre has
performed corrective heart surgeries
on several hundred children with
results matching any other centre
in the world.
CHILD
HEART CARE PROJECT
Our commitment and interest in the
of the future citizens of our nation
has given roots to this novel project,
which is organises in association
with other social service organisations.
As part of this programme, screening
camps are conducted in various schools
in and around Coimbatore to detect
cardiac problems at an early age.
Children who are likely to have
such problems are identified and
investigations performed in our
free cardiac out-patient department.
Corrective surgery if needed, is
also performed on these children
at subsidised rates to give these
little ones a new lease of life. |

PEDIATRIC
CARDIOLOGY
This division has facilities for evaluating
congenital defects using state-of-the
art Doppler Echo, Transesophagial echo
even for new borns, and cordiac catheterisation.
The department performs International
therapies like balloon vavuloplasties.
The division runs a free evaluation
for needy children on all Thursdays. ECG,
X-ray chest, Echo and consultation are
done for free to these children. Apart
from diagnostic catheterisation, the department
also performs therapeutic interventional
procedures on children.
PEDIATRIC
CARDIAC SURGERY
The Centre created a record by performing
open heart surgery on the lowest weight
baby and also on the youngest new born
child in this part of the country. The
centre has fulfilled the dreams of many
a parent and brought hope and health to
many a child by successfully performing
complex corrective surgeries like Arterial
Switch operations, repair of complete
A-v Canal defects, modified Fontan operation,
Sennings repair, TAPVC repair, Tetrology
of Fallat-Total Corrections etc. It should
be appreciated that very few hospitals
in India have facilities to perform such
intricate surgeries.
The
department is well-established as one
of the pioneering centres in this part
of the country with a separate, dedicated
intensive post-operative care unit equipped
with state-of-the art gadgets like neonatal
ventilators, infant warmer and monitor.

results matching any other centre in the
world. |
REHABILITATION FACILITIES
The ultimate aim is to restore normalcy to the
patient both physically and mentally. A well-trained
team of physiotherapists and respiratory technicians
together with surgeons and paramedical staff
spare no effort to see that the patient returns
home hale and hearty with self-confidence to
resume his daily routine at the earliest.
A DEDICATED TEAM
At the top of it all, the Centre has a well-experience,
dedicated team of heartcare specialists and
support staff. Cardiac surgeries like Coronary
Artery Bypass Grafting using arterial conduits,
beating heart surgeries (OFF PUMP) valve repair
and replacement, repair of congenital heart
defects in all age groups – new born,
infants and adults-are performed with great
care and with excellent recovery results.
