Department of Medicine  

The Department of Medicine in Ramakrishna Hospital is one of the major department in the Hospital. It is headed by a Senior Physician who is a retired professor and Head of the Department of Medicine in Coimbatore Medical College. There is an assistant Physician with a Post - graduate qualification with more than 10 years of experience residing in the hospital campus and available round the clock to attend any emergencies. There are three junior medical Officers two of them post graduate students undergoing Diplomate of the National Board course doing round the clock turn duties. 

The out- patient Department caters to the need of patients in and out coimbatore with most of the cases being referred from other smaller hospitals and primary and secondary care canters and general practioners. About 50 cases are being seen every day. Inpatient departments about 40 cases on an average and are mostly complicated cases requiring sophisticated investigations referred for diagnosis and management. 

All types of cases including cardiology, pulmonology , Gastroenterology, Neurology , Endocrinology, Hematological  disords tropical diseases like MALARIA, DENGVE, all types of Fevers are being managed efficiently . The Department of also has on intensive Medical care unit with well equipped advance life support equipment managed by on anaesthetist with 12 beds and treats all aqute Medical emergencies like cerebrovascular accidents my cardial infarction. Hepatic emephalopathy, uremia, acute poisonings and other emergences like Hanging and drowning. 

The department also conducts Master Check Up tailored to Individual needs like. Geriatirc, Diabetic, Pre Marital, Pre employment and comprehensive check up which are very popular and economical too.  

The Medical Department is also recognised for training house Surgeons and Interns by the Medical council of India and for conducting Post Graduate courses in General Medicine by the National Board of Examinations. Two students are being taken every year. 

The Department also trains Post Graduates in Family Medicine for their Dip.N.B course in Medicine and three students are trained every years. 

Apart from these, regular Seminars, clinical meetings and continuing Medical Educaiton programmes are being conducted periodically in the Hospital in which Medical Department , takes an active part.

This department is recognized for training in DNB by the National Board of Examination and CRRI training for MBBS students.
