Dept of child health at Sri Ramakrishna
Hospital was commenced along with medical
department with10 beds during 1983. Subsequently
it become a separate department along with newborn
care under the leadership of Dr.P.Venkatachalam.(
AB ped.), Currently the department has 20 bedded
general ward and 4 bedded pediatric intensive
care unit with all state of the art monitoring
facilities.
New born care in SRH has got its own dedicated
team of doctors, nurses, para medical staffs under
the guidance of Dr. A.K. Jaleel Ahmed.
The Neonatal Intensive care unit(NICU)
has all state of the art equipments like warmers,
incubators, Pulseoximeters, Ventilators, infusion
pumps, colormonitors, phototherapy units. It has
got large patient care area with separate isolation
for out born babies.
The NICU is a 30 bedded unit with 8 bedded high
dependent area. and separate low birth unit. Almost
all neonatal problems like birthasphyxia, respiratory
distress syndrome,meconium aspiration,PPHN, neonatal
sepsis, neonatal seizures, and other metabolic
disorders, surfactant therapy for all high-risk
preterm babies with excellent survival rate. All
padiatric and neonatal surgery are done by Dr.R.
Diraviaraj M.cH., with excellent out
come.
The unit is also supported with bedside neuroimaging,cardiac
screening,radiology,biochemical lab etc
