About The Doctor
Dr. Prabha Udayakumar has completed her undergraduation from P.S.G. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Coimbatore. Her post graduation is from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal where she completed her Doctorate of Medicine in Anaesthesiology. She has 21 years of experience as an Anaesthesiologist. She began her career in Anaesthesiology, as an Assistant Professor in anaesthesiology, worked as consultant at Dubai & Maldives, was promoted & worked as Professor of anaesthesiology at P.S.G Institute of Medical Sciences & Research.
Currently, she heads the department of Anaesthesiology at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital with team of fourteen Consultants. Under her leadership, the department has been recognised by the National Board of Examination to train six postgraduate students every year. Dr.Prabha has several publications in indexed journals.
She was involved in the Ex-utero intrapartum delivery (EXIT) of a newborn diagnosed with large cystic hygroma in the neck during the 36th week of gestation, the procedures was first of its kind performed in India.
Special interests are in Paediatric, Obstetric, NORA, Neuroanaesthesia & Transplant Anaesthesia.
An expert in management of difficult airway scenario using Fibre optic bronchoscopy, video laryngoscopy assisted intubation and supraglottic airway devices.
Well trained in handling high risk obstetric patients, neonates and performing ultrasound guided central venous cannulation & nerve block.
