Organ donation is not just a mere physical act of donating. It is one of the purest forms of service one can offer to mankind after death. Once life stops, the body is put to rest. Instead, you can choose to donate your vital organs to people who are waiting for a second chance to live their lives to the fullest. We constantly say everyone deserves a second chance, then why not give them one?
Donating organs is one of the biggest achievements of contemporary medicine. Organ donation enables the transplanting of healthy organs and tissues from one individual to another in order to replace sick and non-functioning organs.
Donors can be of any age, including the very young and the elderly. Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to register as a donor. If a child under the age of 18 passes away, the parents must determine whether or not to donate the child's organs.
Organs and tissues that can be donated include eyes, kidneys, heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, intestines, skin, heart valves, bone, veins, and ligaments.
