He graduated with a DS degree from the renowned Post Graduate Medical Education and Research institution (JIPMER) in Puducherry, from 1970 to 1977.
Dr. Manoharan furthered his studies by pursuing an MD (General Medicine) from Delhi University, followed by a DM in Cardiology from the prestigious GB Pant Hospital in New Delhi, completing his training in 1991.
His expertise in cardiology led him to establish the instrumental department of Cardiology at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in 1991.
