Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in Collaboration with Rotary club of Coimbatore, Saicity has been implementing the ‘Gift of Life’ Project in which open heart surgeries are performed for needy children absolutely free for them. This project helps children from India and also from countries like Philippines and Srilanka.
Recently 3 children who had complex congenital heart problems were brought to Sri Ramakrishna Hospital from Philippines. They were evaluated by the Peadiatric Cardiologist Dr.Devaprasath and all patient required Complex Open heart procedures to cure their cardiac ailment. Sri Ramakrishna Hospital’s Pediatric Cardiac Surgical team headed by Dr.Vijay Sadasivam and Anesthetist Dr.Narendra Menon performed the complex corrective open heart surgeries for all the three patients successfully. The patients recovered uneventfully in the post operative period and were discharged in a week’s time. After recuperating for one week in Coimbatore the patients flew back to Philippines.
The treatment and the travel were absolutely free for the patients, as they were sponsored by Rotary club of Saicity under their flagship project ‘Gift of Life’. Sri Ramakrishna hospital is the only hospital in the city which performs complex open heart procedures, free of cost to the patients from abroad for many years now consistently. So far 60 patients from Philippines and 25 patients from Srilanka and also patients from Vietnam, Cambodia have been treated for complex heart diseases. This is indeed a rare honour for Coimbatore city as Coimbatore is one of the very few non metro cities to provide high end cardiac treatment for International patients.
Rotary club of Saicity is one of the prominent Rotary clubs of Coimbatore city. It’s prime project is Gift of Life in which more than 1000 needing children from our country and also abroad were treated for Complex Congenital heart problems absolutely free of cost to the beneficiaries.
