The Diplomate in National Board (DrNB) in Neurology is a super-specialty postgraduate programme offered by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) under the aegis of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Sri Ramakrishna hospital has been accredited with 3 DrNB seats in Neurology from July 2024.
Sri Ramakrishna Hospital has been accredited by the NBEMS for various courses in Broad specialties for 30 years and has been running these recognized post graduate programmes since 1995. The department of Neurology is one of the oldest departments of the hospital and in the City of Coimbatore which was started in 1989. The department under the Head of Dr.K.Asokan, MD.,DM., (Neuro) has been catering not only to the district of Coimbatore but also to adjoining districts including Nilgiris, Tirupur, Karur, Salem, Dharmapuri, etc. We also get patients from the neighboring state of Kerala for expert opinion and for patient care.
The Department of Neurology works with The Best Neurologists in Coimbatore who use cutting-edge medical technology and techniques to treat patients with neurological disorders. Neurointerventional procedures like thrombectomy, thrombosuction, coiling/clipping/flow diverter insertion for ruptured intracranial aneurysms and embolizations for AV malformations, dural AV fistulas and middle meningeal artery embolization are few of the important procedures done at our centre.
Our EEG & EMG Lab is well equipped and run by expert personnel. We additionally run a B.Sc Neuro Electrophysiology Technology course in which nearly 20 students graduate every year. Assistant medical officers are available around the clock for patient care.
