Dr Arun Gangadhar is a Consultant Interventional Pulmonologist currently working in Sri Ramakrishna hospital, Coimbatore. He did his post graduation in Respiratory Medicine from the reputed Ganga Ram Institute of post graduate medical education and research (GRIPMER), New Delhi. During his tenure there, he was trained in several interventional procedures by renowned experts in the field and has acquired the skills to perform basic and advanced bronchoscopical procedures, like flexible bronchoscopy, transbronchial & endobronchial lung biopsy, endobronchial ultrasound (Linear & Radial), thoracoscopy, foreign body extraction, and interventions such as airway stent placements, electrocautery and dilatation.
Thereafter, he completed his Fellowship in Critical Care and Fellowship in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) from GRIPMER, New Delhi, wherein he underwent rigorous training in the management of patients requiring critical care support. He has expertise in ICU related procedures such as USG guided and landmark based central line cannulation, arterial line insertion, percutaneous tracheostomy, critical care ultrasound & echocardiography, advanced airway management, advanced hemodynamic parameter assessment strategies, basic & advanced ventilatory strategies, prone ventilation, etc. He is also skilled in non- invasive ventilatory strategies and the use of high flow nasal cannula.
Dr. Arun Gangadhar has worked as a Consultant pulmonologist & Intensivist at Daya Hospital, Thrissur, Kerala for a while prior to his stint here. He is credited to have pioneered the interventional pulmonology department there, while instituting services like endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) guided FNA, both Linear and Radial, semi rigid thoracoscopy etc, thereby becoming the 1st centre in the district to initiate radial EBUS. He was involved in the academic activities of the institution also, like training of critical care fellows. He has also worked as a tutor in Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur, Kerala.
A diligent and skilled clinician, with perspicacious diagnostic abilities, he works relentlessly to achieve impeccable academic record.He has also earned academic laurels with multiple awards for presentations at several national conferences throughout his career. He aims to set up a sustainable & viable Lung Transplantation Programme with the collaboration of Thoracic Surgery team in order to facilitate effective therapeutic strategies in those with end-stage lung diseases. He is also an active member of various national and international associations.
