Dr. N. Chezhiyan is one of the Senior Nephrologists in Tamil Nadu. After passing out MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College and MD from Coimbatore Medical College he worked as a Physician in Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore from 1987 to 1995. After completing DM in Nephrology from prestigious Madras Medical College in 1997 he joined PSG IMSR, Coimbatore, and established a full-fledged nephrology department. He was instrumental in starting the DM-Nephrology course there.
He joined Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in 2008 as a full-time Consultant and HOD and took the department to great heights. He expanded the dialysis unit and was honored by the hospital management for crossing 1,00,000 hemodialysis in July 2016. He started a regular cadaver transplant program. He was given "Distinguished Service to Community Award" by Indian Medical Association in 2018.
He is regularly involved with the teaching of DNB postgraduates. He has been the DM Nephrology examiner to various universities in India and he has also been an appraiser for DNB Nephrology Programme. He has been the examiner for Dr. M. A. Muthusethupathi Gold Medal Exam conducted for MD postgraduates.
He is the member of various Nephrology Associations and holds responsible posts in them. He has got good rapport with all the Senior Nephrologists in Tamilnadu and is well reputed in the Nephrology circle.
